Care for silk

As a delicate fabric, silk should be handled and stored carefully, and professionally cleaned. By following a few simple steps, you can rest assured that this product can be worn and enjoyed for years.

  • The best way of maintaining the quality appearance of our silk is to dry clean it. Do not try to remove stains, as this should only be attempted by professional dry cleaners.
  • For ironing, use a cool (or silk) setting, with a piece of fabric placed between the silk and iron. Do not wet or spray the silk while ironing.
  • One final reminder: Silk is a delicate fabric, so be mindful of how the silk is handled and stored. For example, jewellery may become caught on the silk, and liquids, such as perfume, can stain the fabric.
Karen Hanvik uses high-quality silk, which is carefully printed and hemmed. As a natural fibre, silk may have slight marks and variations, which are characteristics of a natural weave.
